Dr. George W. Bishop is the founder and owner of The Animal Hospital at the
Crossroads. He graduated from Ohio State
University and started the practice
in 1969. He is past president of the California Veterinary Medical Association,
recipient of the American Animal Hospital Association's Outstanding
Practitioner Award and member of the American Veterinary Medical Association,
American Animal Hospital Association and Monterey Bay Area Veterinary Medical
Association. Dr. Bishop has been involved with the Lyceum of Monterey County
since 1972, where he has been an instructor and member of the executive board.
Dr. John C. Andersen graduated from UC Davis Veterinary School in 1970.
After initially joining a wonderful practice in Fremont,
Dr. Andersen bought the Alamo Animal
Hospital where he stayed for 33
years as owner/veterinarian. The practice was sold in June of 2006. Dr.
Andersen joined Dr. Bishop in Carmel
shortly afterwards. Membership include; the California Veterinary Medical
Association (CVMA), American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), American
Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), and Contra Costa County Veterinary Medical
Association. He was on the admissions committee at the UC Davis Veterinary
School for two years and has lectured to the sophomore class on ethics and
professional conduct. Dr. Andersen has been married to Jan for 41 years and
together they have two children; Jody (35) and Jason (32). Hobbies include
running, biking, skiing, weight training, photography and playing guitar.
